The Labour Tradition and the Politics of Paradox was published in 2011 to great interest and controversy. Arguing that Labour had lost its way, it called for a radical politics rooted in the best of our national and labour movement traditions. Over a decade on, we are republishing it in full.
Much has changed in the years since its first publication. Some of the contributions have stood the test of time better than others. But the core diagnosis and prescription remains, in our view, correct. The failure of the liberal settlement has been laid bare. Our country is stuck in an interregnum, with both political parties timid, inert and intellectually lost. Our hope is that some of the resources for our renewal can be found in this book.
